Mission, Beliefs and Values
Our mission
The Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Network is a non-profit,
grassroots organization that brings people, services and research together
to end the nightmare of child sexual abuse. This will be accomplished
by gaining a better understanding of the issues as well as through prevention
and the support of victims and survivors.
Our beliefs
At the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Network, we believe
our success is tied directly to our ability to see beyond ourselves
and our personal agendas and hold high our belief that the protection
of children is paramount. Further, we believe
- everyone has the right to a childhood free of sexual abuse;
- there is no shame in being a victim of sexual abuse;
- the victims and survivors of child sexual abuse have the right to
be heard;
- ending child sexual abuse will happen only through a multifaceted,
multidisciplinary, multi-partnered approach that includes public awareness
programs, education, improved legislation and aggressive enforcement
of current laws by the justice system; and
- perpetrators of child sexual abuse must be held accountable for
their actions.
